Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday hailed the success of Operation Sindoor, declaring that India’s military prowess has reached a stage where “victory has become a habit.”

Operation Sindoor has proven that victory is no longer an occasional event for us — it has become our habit,” Singh said while addressing a gathering in Lucknow.

The Defence Minister, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow. The event marked a significant milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) and, according to the Defence Ministry, injected fresh momentum into India’s pursuit of self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

Strong message to Pakistan

Issuing a pointed warning to Pakistan, Singh said India’s adversaries could no longer escape the reach of its advanced missile systems.

Every inch of Pakistani territory is now within the range of our BrahMos missiles,” he asserted.

He described Operation Sindoor as merely a preview of India’s capabilities.

What happened in Operation Sindoor was just a trailer. But that trailer alone made Pakistan realise that if India could give birth to Pakistan, then I need not say anything further about what else it could do,” the Defence Minister said.

BrahMos Aerospace Lucknow: A milestone for defence manufacturing

BrahMos Aerospace, the producer of the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile system, announced the successful completion of the first batch of missiles from its new integration and testing unit in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow.

Praising the armed forces for their precision and preparedness, Singh said the new facility represents India’s growing ability to produce cutting-edge missile systems domestically.

Inaugurated on May 11, the state-of-the-art plant houses advanced facilities for missile integration, testing, and quality assurance. Following successful trials, the missiles will be deployed by the Indian Armed Forces.

Singh revealed that BrahMos Aerospace has already signed export contracts worth around Rs 4,000 crore with two countries in just one month. “In the coming years, experts from across the world will visit Lucknow, making it a centre of knowledge and a leader in defence technology,” he said. The Defence Minister added that the unit is expected to achieve a turnover of Rs 3,000 crore in the next financial year, contributing nearly Rs 500 crore in GST revenue.

Catalyst for growth under the Defence Corridor

Built on 200 acres for Rs 380 crore, the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility will produce about 100 missile systems annually. Singh noted that the project is not just a defence initiative but also a driver of employment and regional development.

Considering the investment flowing into Uttar Pradesh and the progress being made, this region is poised to become a symbol of a new era of both development and defence,” he said.

The Lucknow facility is among the most significant undertakings under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. It handles the complete process of missile assembly, integration, and testing to the highest technical standards. With the dispatch of its first missile consignment, Uttar Pradesh has firmly positioned itself as a key partner in India’s ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative, reinforcing the country’s strategic autonomy and industrial growth.
