China Ramps Up Construction of 3rd, 4th Aircraft carriers: Report

The rapid growth of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has been a point of concern for the US and countries like India and Japan.

China commissioned its first home-built aircraft carrier, the Shandong, in December last year. The Shandong was based on a design derived from China’s first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, which was a former Soviet Navy vessel, acquired from Ukraine. According to Chinese state-run media, construction of the Shandong had begun at the Dalian shipyard in Liaoning province in 2013. Read More…
