Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), delivered his inaugural address to officers at Naval Headquarters in New Delhi today. He emphasised the Indian Navy’s fundamental mission: to remain combat-ready at all times to protect national maritime interests, encapsulated in the mantra, “Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow!” He underscored the critical role of officers in this mission, highlighting their dedication and commitment as the backbone of the Navy’s readiness and strength.
CNS also addressed the current security environment and the necessary actions the Navy must undertake. He reiterated the Indian Navy’s steadfast commitment to Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), stressing the importance of in-house solutions, innovation, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies. This approach is not merely strategic but is seen as a vision for a proactive and resilient future in the maritime domain.
He urged officers, especially those in mid—and senior-level positions at NHQ, to focus on being “solution providers” and “prioritizing outcomes” to ensure a combat-ready, credible, cohesive, and future-ready force. He praised the personnel’s professionalism and dedication to meeting all mandated tasks.
Adm Tripathi assumed command of the Indian Navy on 30 April, becoming the 26th Chief of Naval Staff, and succeeded Admiral R. Hari Kumar upon his retirement. With nearly 39 years of service, he is an expert in Communication and Electronic Warfare. Before his current role, he served as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) and previously as the Chief of Personnel and the Western Naval Command Chief.
In related developments, changes in the top military leadership are anticipated, with Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande set to retire on 31 May. Vice Chief Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi is the leading candidate to succeed General Pande, becoming the senior-most serving officer upon Pande’s retirement.
