The Indian Navy’s frontline frigate, INS Tabar, visited Malaga, Spain, for two days starting 25 August. After leaving on 27 August, it participated in a maritime partnership exercise (MPX) with the Spanish Navy Ship Atalaya in the Mediterranean Sea. The Indian Navy said India and Spain have been working together to strengthen their bilateral relations, particularly in the maritime sector.
The recent MPX conducted between the Indian Navy and the Spanish Navy in the Mediterranean Sea is a significant milestone in maritime cooperation between India and Spain. The exercises included Station Keeping, Replenishment at Sea Approaches (RASAPs), Flying Exercise (FLYEX), Steam Past, and PHOTOEX serials. Units from both navies demonstrated high levels of professionalism and commitment to enhance collaborative efforts.

“The Indian Navy is dedicated to building partnerships with navies worldwide. The MPX with the Spanish Navy strengthens bilateral naval ties, reinforcing our commitment to enhanced cooperation in the maritime domain,” the Indian Navy said in its statement.
Indian Navy Deploys Teams to Support Relief Efforts in Gujarat
Meanwhile, following heavy rains in Gujarat, the local administration requested assistance due to flood-like conditions. In response, Indian Naval flood relief teams were deployed to Porbandar and Jamnagar to support the state’s relief efforts.
According to the Navy, two rescue teams from Porbandar, equipped with specialist gear, were sent to Morana and Fatana villages to help evacuate residents to safety. Rescue teams from Jamnagar, along with necessary equipment, were deployed near Bedi Marine Police Station and in Jamnagar town. These teams successfully evacuated 50 elderly individuals to secure locations.
In addition, the Indian Navy remains prepared to deploy more rescue teams and equipment to assist in future relief efforts, prioritizing citizens’ safety and security, it said.
