As its Pune facility completes 10 years of operations, GE Aerospace has announced a new USD 14 million investment to scale up production and introduce more advanced manufacturing technologies at the site. The move adds to the USD 30 million committed in 2023, making Pune one of the companyтАЩs fastest-growing manufacturing locations in India.

The new round of funding will support upgraded automation systems and process improvements that will enable the plant to handle increasingly sophisticated components for GEтАЩs global commercial engine programs.

Vishwajit Singh, who heads the Pune facility, said the expansion highlights the strong capabilities built over the past decade. He noted that engineers and technicians at the site, together with a broad supplier base across India, have been contributing critical parts for GEтАЩs most advanced aircraft engines. Singh added that the latest investment reinforces the companyтАЩs long-term participation in IndiaтАЩs manufacturing ambitions.

From its beginnings as a multi-purpose production centre, the Pune unit has developed into a specialised aerospace manufacturing hub. Today, it draws support from more than 300 local suppliers, forming part of GE AerospaceтАЩs wider network of over 2,200 partners across the country. Over the last 10 years, the plant has also become a significant training ground, with over 5,000 workers gaining experience in precision aerospace manufacturing.
The facility holds ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, reflecting sustained attention to environmental management and workplace safety.

Its progress has been shaped in part by FLIGHT DECK, GE AerospaceтАЩs internal lean management framework. The system has helped teams cut waste, improve workflow efficiency, and increase production output. On a recently introduced line supporting a key engine component, the approach has contributed to faster turnaround times and improved machine availability.

With the additional investment now planned, GE Aerospace aims to deepen technological capabilities in Pune and further integrate the site into its global manufacturing strategy.
