Pakistan Alleges Imminent Indian Strike, Cites ‘Credible Intelligence’

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Tuesday claimed that India is planning a military strike against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours, citing what he described as “credible intelligence.”

“Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends to carry out military action against Pakistan on the pretext of baseless and concocted allegations of involvement in the Pahalgam incident,” Tarar posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Reiterating Pakistan’s position as a “victim of terrorism,” he said the country has consistently condemned terrorism in all its forms. He added that Islamabad has proposed a neutral international commission to investigate the April 21 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.

Tarar warned that any Indian “military adventurism” would be met with a “decisive” response. “The international community must remain alive to the reality that the onus of any escalatory spiral and its consequences shall squarely lie with India,” he said.

In a related statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry accused India of making unfounded allegations regarding Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack. “Seven days have passed, but India has not provided a shred of evidence,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Lt Gen Chaudhry also alleged that India was operating a terror network inside Pakistan. “We will present how explosives, IEDs, and other materials are being provided to terrorists targeting not only military installations but innocent civilians as well,” he said.

Tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours have risen sharply since the Pahalgam attack, with both sides trading accusations of cross-border terrorism.
