In a significant push towards defence indigenisation, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has transferred 12 cutting-edge technologies to Indian industry partners under Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology (LAToTs). The agreements, covering eight advanced systems in the domains of electronic warfare, satellite communication, and laser technologies, were handed over during the inaugural session of SAMANVAY 2025, a two-day industry synergy meet organised by DRDO’s Electronics and Communication Systems (ECS) Cluster in Bengaluru.

The technologies transferred include the D-29 Electronic Warfare Suite, NATSAT-Handheld and NATSAT-Mini Terminals, the Sarang Electronic Support Measure System under the Programme SAMUDRIKA, and DOLPHIN-II — all handed over to Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) units in Bengaluru and Panchkula. Other transfers included the Laser Beam Rider Guidance System with Eye-safe Laser Range Finder to BEL, Pune, and Bharat Dynamics Ltd, Hyderabad; the Athermal Laser Target Designator to BEL, Pune; and Laser Photoacoustic Spectroscopy technology to DH Limited (Ghaziabad), Enertech Engineering Pvt Ltd (Hyderabad), Beam Infotech Pvt Ltd (Gurgaon), and Nibe Ltd (Pune). The M-Type Dispenser Cathode was transferred to Panacea Medical Technologies Pvt Ltd, Malur (Karnataka).

Virtually inaugurating the event, Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, said that the organisation is strengthening its partnership with industry to transform India’s defence manufacturing landscape.

“By uniting innovation and industry, DRDO is empowering Indian defence manufacturing for a self-reliant tomorrow. From research laboratories to real-world capabilities, our goal is to deliver indigenised solutions for the Armed Forces and realise the vision of Make in India, Make for the World,” Dr Kamat said.

He added that DRDO has established Industry Interaction Groups across all its laboratories, centres, and establishments to facilitate smoother engagement with industry and greater transparency in processes.

The event drew participation from over 150 industry partners, including MSMEs and start-ups. It highlighted DRDO’s ongoing efforts to foster collaboration and accelerate technology adoption under the Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
