Bharat Forge’s Aerospace Division has secured contracts worth around Rs 300 crore under the Emergency Procurement – VI (EP-VI) framework for a range of indigenous unmanned systems meant for the Indian Army, with end-use also envisaged for the Indian Navy, the company said on January 16.

These contracts cover a range of indigenous unmanned systems, including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms and loitering munitions.

“The contracted platforms, namely Omega One, Omega Nine, Bayonet, and Cleaver, are developed for India to meet urgent operational requirements across diverse terrains and mission profiles,” the statement stated.

This year’s Army Day Parade showcased the Omega One system mounted on a BMP-2 infantry vehicle on January 15 in Jaipur, marking the platform’s first public debut.

Company officials said the EP-VI orders reflect the military’s push for faster induction of indigenous systems under the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, with a focus on rapid production, reliability and scalability.

The statement said that the company is rapidly developing advanced autonomy, artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making capabilities to enhance mission endurance, precision, survivability and adaptability in a contested operational environment.

“This dual achievement, securing EP-VI contracts and showcasing Omega One at Army Day, reaffirms BFL’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat,” Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge Limited, said and added, “We are proud to equip our Armed Forces with India-specific, EW-resistant, homegrown unmanned systems.”

The company has been investing heavily in design, manufacturing and next-generation autonomy technologies as it seeks to position itself as a major player in India’s growing unmanned and autonomous systems sector, the statement said.
