Chief of Army Staff Gen Dhiraj Seth on Friday visited forward areas and formations of the Chinar Corps under Northern Command to review operational preparedness and the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and in the hinterland of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the visit, commanders briefed the Army Chief on the prevailing security environment, operational readiness and capability development initiatives. He was also briefed on measures to maintain a robust security posture along the LoC and the preparedness of formations for counter-terrorism operations in the hinterland.
Interacting with troops in operational areas, Gen Seth commended the soldiers for maintaining a high state of vigilance and reiterated the Army’s focus on its five-point “VIJAY” framework aimed at transforming the force into a future-ready military capable of responding at short notice across the spectrum of operations.
The Army Chief also reviewed the coordination between the Army, civil administration, Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
As part of the visit, Seth travelled to Tangdhar, where he visited an Advanced Surgical Eye Camp being conducted under Operation Drishti 2026. The camp, being held from September 23 to 30, is providing specialised ophthalmic care to serving personnel, veterans, Veer Naris, dependants and civilians, particularly those living in remote areas.
Specialist teams from Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi, and 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar, are conducting the camp. More than 6,000 patients are expected to be screened, with over 400 ophthalmic surgeries planned during the week-long initiative.
