Speaking at the handover ceremony, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V. Kamat lauded the performance of indigenous platforms like the Akash air defence missile system during Operation Sindoor. He encouraged industry partners to build surge manufacturing capacities to meet future operational demands and commended VRDE’s efforts in delivering cutting-edge solutions for land-based defence systems.
This move aligns with the government’s broader vision of creating a robust, self-reliant defence industrial base through greater participation from both public and private players.
