The launch of the integrated training program is a significant step in solidifying the partnership between the Indian Army and J&K Police and is expected to play a crucial role in leading effective counter-terrorism operations in the region.
The joint training program, currently underway at the White Knight Corps Battle School in Bhalra, Doda, is a massive undertaking involving over 1,000 probationary police officers. This initiative is designed to significantly enhance the coordination and combined operational capabilities of both forces in the region.
The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have been known for conducting operations together and combating terrorism for over thirty years. One recent joint operation of both forces was the successful counter-terrorism strikes in Pulwama and the strategic containment in Sopore city.
These operations have not only suppressed terror activities but have also been crucial in restoring the law-and-order situation in the region. The training will give way to the restoration of peace and normalcy in the Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The current batch of trainees includes 62 (probationary) Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) and over 1,000 Police sub-inspectors (SI). Women account for a significant representation of 19 DSPs and 109 Sis, according to Indian Army officials.
The training is focused on operational tactics, intelligence sharing, and counter-terrorism strategies, drawing on the Indian Army’s extensive experience in these fields. The joint training marks a continued commitment to security and the well-being of the region’s residents.
The contribution of both the Indian Army and J&K Police has been noted as instrumental in maintaining national security. The integrated training program will solidify the partnership between the forces. It will also help the J&K Police force become more potent and well-trained. The integrated training program is expected to build more synergy between the forces, leading to even more effective counter-terrorism operations.
