The 6th edition of Staff Talks between India and Oman in the maritime domain was concluded on 5th June in New Delhi to strengthen defence ties. Cmde Jasim Mohammed Ali Al Balushi, Director General of Operations & Plans, led the delegation from the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). Cmde Manmeet Singh Khurana, Commodore (Fleet Commander), led the delegation from the Indian Navy. This series of Navy-to-Navy Staff Talks is a testament to the strong bilateral relations between two historical maritime neighbours, according to the Indian Navy’s statement.
During the Staff Talks, both sides engaged in fruitful discussions on a wide range of topics, including common maritime security challenges, enhanced interoperability at sea, operational collaboration, information sharing, maritime domain awareness, training, meteorology, hydrography, and technical assistance, said the statement.
The delegation also visited IFC-IOR, Gurugram, and called on Vadm Tarun Sobti, the Indian Navy’s Deputy Chief of naval staff.
Oman, as one of India’s closest partners in the Gulf region, is strategically important to our maritime affairs. The regular conduct of Staff Talks is a key pillar in consolidating gains in naval cooperation and deepening the existing partnership between both Navies.
