Pakistan Moves Troops to Forward Areas, Launches Operation ‘Bunyan un Marsoos’; India Strikes Back at Key Military Targets

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday said Pakistan’s military has been observed “moving their troops into forward areas,” indicating a clear offensive intent and potential for further escalation along the western border. He emphasised that the Indian Armed Forces remain in a “high state of operational readiness” in response to these developments.

The statement came hours after Pakistan launched a major military operation against India, code-named Operation Bunyan un Marsoos—an Arabic term meaning “unbreakable wall.” The campaign has involved the use of surface-to-surface missiles and loitering munitions to strike military installations in Jammu, Kashmir, and Punjab.

According to Indian officials, Pakistan attempted coordinated air intrusions at more than 26 locations from Srinagar to Naliya on Friday night. These were intercepted and neutralised by Indian air defence assets.

“In a swift and calibrated response, the Indian Armed Forces launched precision strikes only on identified military targets,” said Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. The targets included radar sites, technical infrastructure, command and control centres, and weapon storage areas. Strikes were carried out at Rafiki, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Juniya using air-launched precision munitions. Radar installations at Pasroor and Sialkot Aviation were also hit.

Despite successfully neutralising incoming threats, Wing Commander Singh acknowledged that Indian Air Force stations at Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, and Bhuj suffered limited damage to equipment and personnel.

Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Chief, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, later confirmed that Indian missiles and drones had struck the Pakistan Air Force’s Nur Khan (Chaklala), Murid, and Rafiqui air bases. The Nur Khan base, a strategic logistics hub in Rawalpindi, hosts the PAF’s C-130s, IL-78s, and Saab Erieye AEW&C aircraft. Murid is known for its drone squadrons, including Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2s, while Rafiqui houses JF-17s, Mirages, and support helicopters.

India’s airstrikes were launched after a Pakistani surface-to-surface missile targeted the Indian Air Force’s Sirsa base—an attack that was successfully intercepted.

Col. Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Singh jointly briefed the media along with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, stating that Pakistan used drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, and fighter aircraft to target both civilian areas and military infrastructure along the western front. “These actions were effectively countered and responded to appropriately,” said Wing Commander Singh. She added, “India remains committed to non-escalation, provided it is reciprocated by the Pakistan military.”

As Pakistan pushes troops forward and hostilities intensify, both sides remain on heightened alert, raising regional and international concern over the potential for wider conflict.
