Defence training solutions company Zen Technologies has secured a Rs 177.5 crore contract from the Ministry of Defence to upgrade and integrate T-90 Driving Simulators and Crew Gunnery Simulators. It marks the first procurement of an integrated T-90 crew training system for the Indian Army.
The project will integrate driving and gunnery simulators into a single virtual training platform, allowing tank drivers and gunners to train together in realistic battlefield conditions. The system is designed to improve crew coordination, communication and decision-making without relying extensively on live platforms, the company claims.
According to the company, the simulator has been designed and developed entirely in India. It recreates operational environments through immersive 3D battlefields featuring varied terrain, dynamic weather, day and night conditions, and battlefield effects.
The platform also incorporates artificial intelligence-enabled opposing forces to generate adaptive combat scenarios that expose crews to realistic tactical challenges during training.
Zen Technologies said the simulator is expected to reduce training costs by limiting the deployment of operational tanks, cutting ammunition consumption, reducing equipment wear, and increasing the availability of training infrastructure. The modular architecture will also allow future upgrades and integration with additional simulation systems.
Commenting on the order, Zen Technologies Chairman and Managing Director Ashok Atluri said the contract reflects a broader global shift towards advanced military simulation.
“Defence forces worldwide are modernising ageing simulation infrastructure with more immersive and networked training systems, while many emerging militaries are adopting simulation capabilities for the first time,” he said.
Atluri said integrated simulation platforms enable armed forces to shorten training cycles, reduce dependence on live equipment and improve combat readiness at lower lifecycle costs.
“We believe integrated simulation will become a cornerstone of future armoured force training as militaries seek to prepare faster, train smarter and maintain higher operational readiness,” he added.
Hyderabad-based Zen Technologies develops defence training and anti-drone systems and has supplied more than 10,000 systems globally. The company said it has filed over 200 patents and has over three decades of experience in defence simulation technologies.
