I am an Indian, but I am disappointed since our Mig21 was shot down by Pakistani F16. Pakistanis launched an attack by sending their Fighter planes and bombed Indian territory. My question to so called Indian air force is that, what kind of deterrence have you developed even after spending Hundreds of Billions of Dollars for so many decades? Pakistanis simply came, bombed us and went away. On top of it they have the best fighter plane in the South Asia with the best Air-to-Air Missiles which made our entire Air force redundant. IAF spends so much of money but always performed horribly against PAF. Please understand that Indian citizens of 21st century have access to Internet and are highly educated. Stop making predictions and statements and show some credible performance in the next battles with PAF.

    Regards,
    A concerned Indian tax payer.

Please! Pakistan does not have South Asia’s best fighter aircraft. Yes, the AMRAAM 120 C5 is better than the Russian missiles we have but we are working towards rectifying that. Astra with SFDR itself is a game changer. The IAF is probably at it’s weakest right now and will only go up from here. Our scientists are brilliant, where we are lacking is production. That’s why private industry is being encouraged and more and more private players we entering the field. Things can only get better. The only thing we need now is speed since we have a long gap to be covered. Of course there were lessons to be learnt from February skirmish. Hopefully the next Balakot will bear fruits to all the efforts being put in now.

An Excellent article with a lots of insight of our all around indigenous efforts towards strengthening and self reliance of 5th largest airforce i.e. Indian Air Force . The comprehensive grasp of the author on the complex instruments of warfare under development for IAF is phenomenal .Feeling proud of DRDO and our motherland India.
