Lieutenant General DS Rana, the Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DG DIA), is currently embarking on a crucial official trip to the United Republic of Tanzania. The visit, which is scheduled from 13 to 15 May, holds immense significance as it aims to fortify the already robust defence relations between the two nations and delve into potential collaborations on regional security.
As part of his trip, the Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), a key figure in India’s defence strategy, will engage in discussions with Tanzania’s top military officials, including General Jacob John Mkunda, Chief of Defence Staff of Tanzania People’s Defence Force, and Maj Gen MN Mkeremy, Chief of Defence Intelligence. During his visit to the Tanzanian National Defence College, he will share India’s Security Perspective with upcoming leaders of the TPDF, which will be a significant step in strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and establishing mutual understanding, according to a Defence Ministry statement.

Lt Gen DS Rana is scheduled to visit the High Commission of India in Dar Es Salaam to inaugurate its newly established Defence Wing. As a goodwill gesture to enhance military cooperation, he will present the Tanzanian People’s Defence Force (TPDF) with Indian-manufactured Bulletproof Jackets. The DG DIA will also inaugurate the Library at Command and Staff College in Arusha and lay the foundation for a gymnasium. The government of India is assisting with the construction of the gymnasium.
