Lt Gen JK Sharma is a scholar warrior and senior strategic military leader with close to 42 years of service.
An expert on Siachen with two tenures and Ladakh, three tenures, he also took part in counter-insurgency operations in Punjab, J&K and North East. He is an expert on Information Warfare and was part of many committees on the subject while in service. As part of the Directorate of Military Operations for over five years at different levels he has seen through Kargil War, Operation Prakaram, Uri, and many crisis situations of internal conflict and Out of Area Contingency Operations including hostage crisis of Sierra Leone and Lebanon.
With exposures to defense cooperation, military diplomacy, international relations, and conflict prevention, he is currently engaged with Indian and international forums for strategic and security initiatives, defense analysis, and track II dialogues.
Post his retirement he has been defense Advisor to the Government of Uttar Pradesh for their Defence Industrial Corridor and Chair at DRDO. He has been writing for different publications and speaking in various forums and institutes on strategy and leadership.
