In a major boost to operational mobility and the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, the Indian Army has inked a contract worth Rs 223.95 crore with Axiscades Aerospace and Technologies Pvt. Ltd. for the procurement of 212 next-generation 50-ton tank transporter trailers.

The deal, signed under the ‘Buy (Indian-IDDM)’ category on August 1, underscores the Army’s commitment to indigenisation and self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

Designed for the rapid and reliable transport of tanks and other armoured vehicles across varied and demanding terrain, the new trailers are equipped with advanced features such as hydraulic/pneumatic loading ramps and steerable, liftable axles. These capabilities will serve as a significant force multiplier for the Indian Army, enhancing both logistical efficiency and battlefield readiness.

This indigenous acquisition is expected to provide a fillip to the domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem while also generating employment. It reflects the Indian Army’s continued focus on strengthening core capabilities and preparing for future operational challenges through self-reliant, homegrown solutions.
