India – Singapore relations have all along been cordial and have primarily been based on trade and commerce. In 2005, Prime Minister Modi signed a joint declaration along with the Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the relationship between the two countries. Defence cooperation is based on the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) of October 2003 and reinforced thereafter by the improved DCA, signed during PM Modi’s visit in November 2015
