India has a strong showing at the Indo Defence Expo & Forum 2025, being held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, is displaying two next-generation artillery gun systems at this event, which is being held from 11th to 14th June. The two artillery gun systems being showcased are Garuda 105 and MArG 45.
One of the two systems on display at the event is the Garuda 105mm/37 calibre Mounted Gun System (MGS). This system is a go-anywhere gun system that has a shoot & scoot capability. Such a system can add to the firepower of the Indonesian Army as well as other armies in Southeast Asia, where one does not always have a robust road network. The Garuda weighs just 5.5 tons and can be easily airlifted from one island to another in the vast archipelago. The gun can come to action in as little as a minute and a half. Incidentally, the Garuda holds great significance in Indonesia and is the national symbol of that country just like the Lion Capital of Ashoka or the Sarnath Lions.
KSSL also displayed the MArG 45 series, comprising 155mm mounted gun systems available in both 39 and 45 calibre configurations. This hard-hitting MGS weighs as much as 18 tons and can negotiate gradients as high as 30°, making the system a go-anywhere platform. At 18 tons, the weapon platform can easily be transported by the existing tactical transport fleet of the Indonesian Air Force. This gun, too, can be made ready to fire in a minute and a half after coming to a halt.
KSSL’s presence is perceived as a significant step forward in fostering defence industrial collaboration between India and Indonesia. As the largest defence exhibition of its kind in Southeast Asia, Indo Defence Expo & Forum 2025 provides extensive industrial networking and defence export opportunities, which help build on the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
KSSL’s strong participation at Indo Defence Expo 2025 not only highlights its technological capabilities but also underscores India’s broader vision to deepen defence ties and promote indigenous solutions in the global market.
