Operation Sindoor saw India demonstrate its military supremacy over Pakistan. The Indian Armed Forces, through a series of missile strikes, caused tremendous damage to terror infrastructure and crippled the Pakistani Air Force by severely damaging their air bases.
Some of the most important air bases in Pakistan were struck by precision strikes from India. These PAF air bases are PAF Nur Khan in Rawalpindi, PAF Mushaf in Sargodha in Punjab, PAF Shahbaz in Jacobabad in Sindh and PAF Bholari, also located in Sindh.
One of the most important bases struck by the Indian Air Force was the PAF base Nur Khan. This is the equivalent of the Palam Air Force Base in Delhi and as such holds a lot of prestige. The base houses the 12th and 41st VIP squadrons. These squadrons are used by top dignitaries of Pakistan. Besides these two squadrons the bulk of Pakistan’s air lift capability is located here in the form of the 6th squadron which is equipped with aging C-130s and the 52 squadron which flies the C-235, a smaller and less capable version of our C-295 transport aircraft.
PAF Mushaf or Sargodha Air Base can be considered the heart of the Pakistani Air Force. This base houses an F-16 squadron, a JF-17 squadron and an Electronic Warfare squadron. It is also the home to the Combat Commander’s School, which is the equivalent of the TACDE in IAF and the famed ‘Top Gun’ School of the U.S. Navy. Sargodha air base is also the home to the PAF College.
The next big target hit by India is PAF Shahbaz located in Jacobabad. This base is very important for the Pakistani Air Force as this is the home to two Pakistani F-16 fighter squadrons, including the block 52 variant of the aircraft, a prized asset of the PAF.
A hanger at PAF Bholari was also destroyed in Indian strikes. This airbase is a vital installation for the Pakistanis as it houses a squadron of the Saab 2000 Erieye AWACS aircraft. The base also hosts a squadron of the older variant of the F-16 as well as a squadron of JF-17s.
India also struck a facility at PAF Sukkur an important air base in Pakistan’s Southern Air Command and is said to be a drone base.
Besides these bases, the Indian Armed Forces have hit other important air bases, radar sites, SAM sites and other military targets to degrade Pakistan’s war-waging capabilities.
